Take An Official Look At The Trophy Room X Air Jordan 7
Update 9.15.22 // More than a year after it was first announced, first, official looks at the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7 are here, in anticipation of an expected release this holiday season. Coming off of a controversial freeze Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Retro release, Marcus Jordan and the Trophy Room store are back with the Dream Team inspired Retro Air Jordan 7. Marcus Jordans trophy room sneaker boutique has been known for producing a few limited edition versions of popular vintage Air Jordans for quite a while, and although the store has received plenty of backlash for the backdooring of its limited edition releases, it does not stop them from continuing the remixing of a holy grail we hold close to our hearts. Continuing Jordan Brands collaboration relationship with Marcus Jordans Trophy Room Retailer Marcus Jordans Trophy Room, this 2022 holiday release commemorates the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Expressing a blend of Obsidian/Dark Obsidian/True Red/Metallic Gold, the collaboration references Michael Jordans signature Olympic-sporting Air Jordan 7.
The Holiday 2022 release features a premium suede upper, featuring embellishments in the form of an Olympic Ring colorway on the heel tab, as well as Metallic Gold hardware. The heel tabs are colored to represent the five Olympic rings, and the heels themselves are decorated with Trophy Room branding and Michael Jordans number nine Olympic shirt. The 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games are represented with the addition of the heel pull tab in multiple colors on the backside. The golden hardware represents Team Dreams dominating gold-medal run, while the Olympic Ring colors are displayed on the heel pull tab.
It is constructed from premium suede, and uses the colors of the Olympic rings used on heel tabs, as well as the prints of Monte Carlo and 1992 on the sole, all of which are a nod to the locations the Dream Team will train at. The interior linings and boxes feature prominent reminders from the 1992 Olympic Games, including Michael Jordans murmur to Larry Bird while in the huddle about the fact there was New Sheriff In Town, and markings for Monte Carlo, the venue where the famous Dream Team would train before the games. Nods to the Dream Teams 1992 campaign are visible in woven ankle dates, the shoebox custom-made for the basketball courts, tactic boards accessories, and a mysterious message about New Sheriff in Town. The Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7 is inspired by Michael Jordans time on the Dream Team, as the shoes internal tags are dated to June 22, 1992, the date of Dream Teams inaugural training camp.
You can also see Michael Jordans signature along the side near the rear heel, which has been a staple for the past several Trophy Room collaborations. As of writing this post, the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7 collaboration does not have an upcoming release date. In the photos, you can see the silhouette with a question mark, clearly a Jordan 1. Details are scarce at this point, and we cannot confirm whether this is going to be a Jordan 7 Low or a mid. Another Jordan Brand collab, this one also includes a co-branded package, which includes the Clipboard graphic, as well as an additional lace kit.
This latest collab for the Air Jordan 7 features Jordan Brand and Trophy Room paying homage to the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. The Jordan Brand & Trophy Room Swoosh Label release for Holiday 2022 continues their creative partnership and pays homage to the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Where Air Jordan 7 is concerned, the festivities focused around either pulling classics back to center stage, or shifting focus onto collaboration efforts like Travis Scotts latest installment in his ongoing collaboration with Nike. The 2021 NBA All-Star Game was initially set to take place in Indiana, and it is obvious this edition was meant to harken back to 1985 -- the original year of the Air Jordan 1.
Details of his highly anticipated next collaborative effort suggest this partnership was tied to the famous Dream Team scrimmage before the Olympics at Monte Carlo, where Jordans white team faced off against Magic Johnsons blue team. Jordans white team faced off against Magic Johnsons blue team. Taking design cues from the original Air Jordan 7Olympic A and The Greatest Game Nobody Ever Saw, the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7 Retro comes in a molten, metallic gold, and royal red colourway. This forthcoming Michael Jordans Air Jordan VII Olympic, previewed at the end of fall of last year, has caught the eye of a lot of Air Jordan fans, especially with the colorway blocks that are similar to Chicago, but there are plenty of subtle touches that still make this Trophy Room concepts best. Recent IG posts from Air Jordan have almost confirmed that, featuring Jordan standing out in front of a new space, windows covered with mysterious contacts that read Family Reunion Holiday 21, and a picture of the teams eight Trophy Room fans arranged around a circle.
The Trophy Rooms disgraced reputation apparently has not affected Michael Jordans son, Marcus, who is opening the new downtown Orlando location. Michael Jordans son Marcus ties with Michael Jordans are familial, to say the least, so it would not be a surprise to see him work on another collaborative shoe. Despite a perceived backdoor controversies surrounding their joint Air Jordan 1 launch, it is pretty obvious the store run by Jordans son would not get the freeze-out treatment going forward. The trophy room in Jordans family estate served as inspiration for this sleek, signature boutique retail experience.
The "rumor has it..." printed on the sole is a reference to rumors that a few older players in the All-Star game (Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, and George Gervin) would conspire to loosely guard one another so that they could accumulate points, while blocking Michael Jordan while holding onto the ball to make him miss.
